We’re excited to announce that we have two great trunk shows coming up in the next two months!
What Are Trunk Shows?
If you’ve never heard of a trunk show or are unfamiliar with the term, you’re in for a treat. Trunk shows happen when a designer sends us a bunch of their dresses for people to see in person and try on.
It’s the best way to see styles that you otherwise may only see online. Think of it as an interactive fashion show experience where you can try on any of the clothes that you like.
Trunk shows are by appointment only. We ask that you make an appointment so that we can make sure to have a dressing room available for you and personnel on hand to give you the special attention that you deserve.
Demetrios Bride Trunk Show
From December 27, 2017 – January 7, 2018 we will be holding a Demetrios Bride Trunk Show. We are the area’s exclusive Demetrios retailer. We will have 25 dresses from their collection that we normally do not carry in stock. If you want to see these dresses in person, this is likely your only chance to do it!
We have a super cool offer for everybody who books an appointment for the Demetrios Trunk Show and buys a wedding dress. With EVERY NEW Demetrios gown order you will receive a gift certificate for $100 to use towards a new veil, headpiece or bridal shoes.
All you need to do is:
1st – Make an appointment (appointments are limited)
2nd – Preview these breathtaking new gowns
3rd – Find your dream dress
Lillian West Trunk Show
Lillian West is a wonderful designer that we’ve featured in our shop for years. We’re excited to feature the Lillian West Spring 2018 line at our Lillian West Trunk Show from January 19th-21st.
Like the Demetrios show, this limited time is when you’ll be able to see the Lillian West dresses for yourself, not online.
Every bride that purchases a new Lillian West gown at the trunk show will receive a floral headpiece of her choice!
Book your appointment now for either show as reservations are going fast!
If you have any questions contact the store at (910) 471-4212.
Our Store hours are Tuesday-Friday 10-6, Saturday 10-4, (closed Sunday & Monday)
Holiday closed 12/23 at 2pm, 12/24, 12/25, 12/31 & Jan 1st & 2nd.
We hope to see at one or both of these great trunk shows!
It’s December and at our store on Market St. we’re in the full holiday swing!
It’s feeling festive at the shop for a number of reasons: We just had an amazing Fall Bridal Sale where we saved dozens of brides hundreds of dollars off their dress and welcomed them into the Camille’s family. We’re excited that we’re now the exclusive area retailer for wedding dress designer Demetrios. We carry four stunning lines from Demetrios and we’re excited to show off over 25 looks from their collection at the Demetrios trunk show coming later this month. We are happy Christmas elves helping brides find the perfect dress for their special day.
Our hours are a little different than normal for the month of December. We also be closed every Sunday in addition to Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, and New Year’s Day.
BUT! We know that sometimes the holidays are the only time that everybody is in town to do your dress shopping. This year, for the first time, we’re offering After Hours Appointments.
There is a $50 charge to book an After Hours Appointment. Appointments are typically 90 minutes and can be as long as two hours. You’ll be able to bring everybody you’d like to your private appointment and you’ll have the run of the store. Even better, if you purchase a dress, we will apply that $50 to the cost of the dress!
We look forward to spending some extra time with our family this Christmas and hope you’re able to too!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
We’re proud to announce that we’re now the exclusive area retailer for Demetrios Bridal! Their wedding gowns offer women the widest and most versatile styles, while sitting on the cutting edge of the fashion world. Demetrios Bridal is known for their high quality, elegant, and romantic wedding dresses with looks ranging from traditional to modern, and glamorous.
The average price for a Demetrios Bride dress is $1,495.
We carry four of their amazing collections:
- Platinum by Demetrios
- Destination Romance
- Cosmobela Collections
“Demetrios” is the signature collection by Demetrios Bridal. In 2018, romantic detailing is a key feature. Dresses feature 3D floral elements, exquisite beading, stunning lace and sheer paneling all taking center stage.
One of our favorite aspects of the collection has to be the versatility of the gowns, with on-trend detachable elements to easily switch up your look from day to night. Many of the gowns offer removable trains, boleros, cap sleeves and capes, giving you two gorgeous looks in one stunning dress.
See the Demetrios Briadal website to view all 70+ dresses available in this collection. You can also see many dresses in person at the Demetrios Bride trunk show we’re having on December 30 & 31, 2017. See below for details.
Platinum by Demetrios
As seen above, Demetrios wedding dresses are renowned for delivering the quality of a couture gown without the price tag. In keeping with this reputation, the new Platinum Collection from Demetrios brings more opulence and more intricate detail to the bride who is a princess at heart.
The essence of the Platinum Collection is a high fashion feel with a Haute couture look.
The Platinum Romance collection is perfect for the woman who has a soft and dreamy style with a natural essence. This is the perfect collection for those who want a timeless look but also want a hint of free spiritedness to show through.
When world-famous designer Demetrios created the Cosmobella Collections he wanted the dresses to look light and delicate. To achieve this look, he started with extraordinary fabrics. Working with delicate, sensual, and fine detailing, he has created dresses that are lyrical, shapely, and imbued with a sense of purity. Opulent but thoughtful, full of details that enchant the eye and compliment, rather than upstage, the modern-day bride.

Camille’s was proud to partner with WWAY for the 1st Annual Wilmington Wedding Expo. The event was held on October 15, 2017 at Ironclad Brewery in historic downtown Wilmington. It was a runaway success!
With heavy promotion by WWAY on TV and Camille’s on social media, the hundreds of brides that showed up to the Expo knew in advance what to expect:
âś“ Catered Food
âś“ Top Rated Wedding Vendors
âś“ Bride Fashion Show
âś“ Groom Fashion Show
âś“ Grooms Corner has Football (it’s Sunday after all)!
The event did not disappoint. Brides had the opportunity to meet with a who’s who of local wedding vendors. They were on site dishing out wedding planning advice and giving away amazing prizes and discounts including the grand prize: a free wedding dress from Camille’s!
Our booth at the Expo was staffed with Camille’s Chicks. They had such a wonderful time meeting and talking with the brides and their families. Many chose to make an appointment to come by the store to try out some of the styles modeled during the Fashion Show.
We heard great things from the other vendors too. They all were so pleased to meet all of the brides!
The highlight of the event was the Camille’s Fall Fashion Show for both Brides and Grooms. The Fall Fashion Show showcased the latest in wedding trends for both gowns and tuxedos. Music was on point, handled by Adam Lassiter from Coastal DJ & Video. The stage was beautifully lit and decorated by Keith Register at Illuminating Events. Adam and Keith created the perfect atmosphere for our models to WORK IT.
Our gorgeous female and male models were styled by Jennifer House from Makeup for Your Day who made sure everybody looked stunning with perfect hair and makeup. The combination of quality wedding vendors resulted in a truly memorable fashion show.
As soon as the first model took the stage, you could feel the energy pick up in the room. The crowd was into it and loved what they saw. Audible “wows” and gasps could be heard in response to the ladies rocking their dazzling dresses. Not to be outdone, the men strutted their stuff, with a wink and a smile as they showcased their handsome tuxes. The biggest “oohs” and “aahs” of the night may have been reserved for two adorable little ladies that showed off two cute flower girl dresses. Their twirls on stage were so adorable!
The girls were later seen talking to a princess! In reality it was one of our models in their wedding dress but to all the world she looked like a princess to these two young ladies. They were smitten!
Every bride that attended the Wilmington Wedding Expo was entered to with the grand prize, a free wedding dress from Camille’s. At the conclusion of the fashion shows, WWAY picked a winner and with all of the models on stage, we announced the lucky bride, Maya!
We’re happy to report that she’s already come by our shop and has chosen her dress. We’re thrilled to welcome her to the #camillesfamily.
We want to say a HUGE thank you to all of the models that put in such hard work to make the event a success. Reese Brinckman, Annie Long, Garrick Pryde, Taylor Webster, Zander Lim, Chris Colin, Emma Gotsch, Alison English, Flavia DeSousa, Haley Taylor, Chelsey Bishoff, Emily Allman, Rafela Dixon, Colleen Marie Burrill, Morgan Neese, Lyndsey Childers, and Paxton Webster all helped to make the Wilmington Wedding Expo Fall Fashion Show a magical event.
If you’re a bride and in search of the perfect wedding dress, we’re having National Fall Bridal Sale from November 17-26, 2017. During this sales event, all sample gowns will be discounted 25%-75%. Take an additional 25% off clearance sample gown. Purchase any new gown during the sale and receive a pair of shoes of your choice! Save big by calling (910) 471-4212 and making your bridal appointment now! Upon your arrival you’ll get the personal attention that we’re known for and we’ll find the perfect dress for your special day. We have limited appointment space, so book soon, because this sale won’t last long!
This beautiful bride (and even more beautiful person), Amanda Boles, is so special to the Camille’s family. Amanda worked for Camille’s as a bridal consultant when we first opened in 2014 and has since remained close with the “Camille’s Chicks.” We were over the Moon excited for Amanda when we heard she was engaged and even more thrilled she chose to get her wedding gown at Camille’s.
Congrats, Amanda and Zach!

Where did you meet your husband?
AB: We met our senior year at UNCW. Our story written as “his side” and “her side” is on our wedding website.
When and where did you get engaged?
AB: Our engagement story is so exciting me to because I was completely surprised after 7 years of dating. We were engaged on Superbowl Sunday 2016 when the Panthers were playing for the ring! Zach used one of our friend’s houses to set up a path of rose petals that lead me to a video of him leading me out to the back porch where I opened the back doors to see him down on one knee. There was a group of some of our closest friends and family watching and waiting with champagne to celebrate when I said “yes!”
You can watch the proposal here (over 10K views!)
What made you decide to shop at Camille’s?
AB:Â Our wedding was in Wilmington because the town is so special to our love story. I used to work at Camille’s and it meant so much to me to support local and get a dress from friends!Â
How soon after you got engaged did you begin looking for a wedding gown?
AB: I started shopping for a dress just a few months after we were engaged but I only had 10 months to plan so I wanted plenty of time to order my gown and have alterations done.
What was it like shopping for your wedding gown at Camille’s?
AB: So fun! My consultant was Linell. I’ve worked in the Bridal industry selling bridal gowns for years but she still made me feel special and all of the girls still oohed and aahed over the good picks! It made me feel so special, as every bride should. It was just my mom and I shopping because I wanted it to be a special experience for us to share together. And it was!
How did you decide which one?
AB: Well my mom really made the decision for me. When I saw the look on her face of me in my gown, I was sold!
What was your favorite thing about wedding dress shopping?
AB: My favorite thing was the moments I got to share with my mom. We laughed at the bad fits and “looked better on the rack” dresses but then we shared the best moments of a mother-daughter shopping trip: find THE Dress.
How was shopping at Camille’s different from other stores you went to?
Did you get your alterations done at Camille’s?
AB: I did! I had my bodice taken in, the hem taken up and a customized bustle that turned out perfect!
When and where was your wedding?
AB: My wedding was New Years Eve, 2016 at the Coastline Convention Center in Downtown Wilmington.

Whether it’s your first time attending a Military Ball or you’re a seasoned attendee, deciding what to wear to the event (especially if you’re a woman) can be challenging. These events are a celebratory event to honor the military service and unit whose ball you are attending. That means, it’s not about you. So take the time to put together an ensemble that is appropriate and elegant, but also makes you feel beautiful.
What is Military Ball Attire?
Military balls are considered formal white tie events. That means your service member will be wearing his or her most formal uniform. For the ladies, military spouses and dates traditionally opt for formal dresses either floor length or no shorter than just below the knee.
While dresses that knee length (no shorter!) or above are traditionally considered a cocktail dress or semi-formal, there are many ladies that opt to pull them off by pairing it with the right hair and makeup, shoes and jewelry.
What to Wear
- Full Length, below the knee, or knee-length (as long as your booty doesn’t show when you bend over)
- If possible, try to match the colors of your date’s uniform (or at least not clash with it)
- The bridesmaid section often has many options
- A properly fitting dress. This means, you might need to take it to be altered so you can enjoy yourself and not be pulling and taping during the Military Ball.
Advice from real Military Spouses
“Think radiant and beautiful versus hot (save hot for a date).” – Rachele via spousebuzz.com
“Wear something YOU feel beautiful in.” – Jennifer via spousebuzz.com
“As a “command spouse”– as long as we don’t see your arse or your boobs, wear what you want and what you can afford. If you have a prom dress that’s appropriate, wear it. If you can’t bend over and touch your toes without something falling out– not for the ball. You would be surprised how much most command spouses really don’t care if you are wearing a knee length dress, rather than floor length gown. Have a great time!!!” – Jodi via spousebuzz.com
What Not To Wear
- A dress that shows too much skin
- Anything completely sheer
- A dress so short it shows your @$$ when you bend over
- A dress s low your “ladies” are spilling over
- Anything that is too distracting – remember this event is about your date!
- Neon or wild prints

We feel very honored to be a part of the pageant world, and not just because we love pretty ball gowns. We love participating in pageants because we get to know and work with such exceptional women of many ages and backgrounds. As a sponsor of the Miss North Carolina Pageant, Camille’s is given the honor to dress the winner for the Miss America Pageant and we’ve enjoyed every minute with reigning Miss North Carolina, Victoria Huggins. She is truly beautiful on the inside and out and will do a phenomenal job representing our State at the Miss America Pageant.
Victoria Huggins was named Miss Wilmington in 2016 and was the 2017 Miss Sampson County. At Miss NC Pageant, she received the Dana Reason Quality of Life Award, chosen from qualified applicants who excel in their commitment to enhance the quality of life for others through volunteerism and community service. Many locals know her from her time as a producer and reporter for Carolina in the Morning on local TV station, WECT.
In July, Camille’s hosted a special gathering at the store to welcome and honor Victoria while she tried on dresses for the Miss America Pageant, signed autographs, smiled for photos, and shared her fun and joyful demeanor with all of us. Other guests in attendance included Miss North Carolina Teen, Kenzie Hansley, Miss Wilmington’s Outstanding Teen, Taylor Beach, and several other special guests.
Miss North Carolina will compete in the Miss America Pageant on LIVE on Sunday, September 10th at 9pm at Historic Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The second part of my day back in my second home, the Port City, was spent with my incredible friends at Camille’s of Wilmington…and wow what a special “mini party” we had…complete with a sign, flowers, and Mandy Anderson-ille’s famous cake balls! 🙂 Thank you, Angela McKoy Woodcock and Joanne Beine Miranda for your thoughtfulness and generosity in organizing this special visit complete with my favorite color (and the official color of Alzheimer’s Awareness) Purple! The entire team at Camille’s got to know the fabulous Lynn Adams very well during the months leading up to her big day. We had a ball dressing Lynn and her bridal party head to toe!
You just can’t go wrong with Camille’s. They take care of you from head to toe from start to finish. They are just wonderful and I can’t say enough good things about them. They wanted my day to be special and went above and beyond to make sure it was. – Lynn Gobble, Camille’s Bride

Where did you meet your husband?
LMA: I officiate high school soccer games and he puts on classes to train referees. We met while I attended one of his classes. The rest…history!
When and where did you get engaged?
LMA: We got engaged at a Mexican Restaurant on Valentine’s Day of 2016 after 9 years of dating. While dating we had always said we would not get married since we had both been married before so when he did ask, I was taken completely off guard. It was over dinner after a movie date and he said “Will you marry me?” and I had to think for awhile about what he was asking me. I didn’t say a word and tears were welling up in my eyes and after I was able to compose myself I said “yes!”
How soon after you got engaged did you begin looking for a wedding gown?
LMA: In April for an October wedding.
What made you decide to shop at Camille’s?
LMA: It was actually a fluke on the day we went to Camille’s. It was while I was having a girls weekend at Carolina Beach with my Maid of Honor and BFF, Kelly. I was looking at gowns in some bridal magazines and tabbed a few I liked but kept coming back to this stunning Maggie Sottero gown.
Kelly said, “Let’s look and see what’s here in Wilmington!” So on a Saturday afternoon, we called Camille’s and they had a bridal appointment opening and scheduled us. They had the exact Maggie Sottero dress in stock AND in my size. I tried it on, along with 12 other dresses of differing styles during the appointment. But nothing compared to that original dress I sought out. So I bought it on the spot!
What was it like shopping for your wedding gown at Camille’s?
LMA: I’m always very nervous about going into a “boutique” and having a “pretty woman moment” where the associate is very rude and condescending. I was envisioning someone saying “There’s nothing for you in this store. Lucky for me, my fear was NOTHING LIKE MY ACTUAL EXPERIENCE AT CAMILLE’S!
When we walked in it was SO OPPOSITE of what I feared. I went in knowing very little about Camille’s. My Maid of Honor, Kelly and I arrived in shorts and beach attire. Joanne, the owner, met me at the door and I was comfortable instantly. I filled out an information card and she directed me to start looking at dresses while she got a dressing room ready. She was very friendly and accommodating.
I opted not to go out and stand on the podium as I tried on each dress and instead stayed “behind the scenes” where I was much more comfortable.
How was shopping at Camille’s Different from other stores you went to?
LMA: I went to a large chain dress shop to look at bridesmaid dresses and had a miserable experience where their associates ignored me and my friend and were rude when they did speak with us. I have a mild temperament but I actually stormed out and told them I was “taking my business to Camille’s!” Each and every singe time I went to Camille’s, remembered me by name and were so gracious and accommodating. They took care of everything.
What did you go with for Bridesmaid dresses from Camille’s?
LMA: I dressed all 5 of my bridesmaids at Camille’s! I wanted them to pick a style that made them feel beautiful and flattered their figure. Each of them picked a different style in the same eggplant color.
What do you do for the Mother of the Bride dress?
LMA: I’d had so much success at Camille’s I brought my mother in to shop for her dress as well and she loved it. And luck for us, we found one she loved on sale on the clearance rack!
Who dressed the Groomsmen?
LMA: I told Joanne what I was wanting a tweed “Downtown Abbey style” vest for them and she found something like it in her book. She ordered a sample and I loved so I ordered vests for all the Groomsmen. We rented ties and white shirts from Camille’s and they each wore their own white shirt and khakis. They wear them to church all the time now!
How about the Flower Girl dress?
LMA: We bought the Flower Girl Gown also from the clearance rack that was a similar color to mine (blushing champagne with antique and lace overlay). She also had on cowboy boots.
Did you get your alterations done at Camille’s?
LMA: My alterations and my Maid of Honor’s alterations were done at Camille’s. Angela and Lorraine are amazing at what they do. The bustling for my gown was done beautifully. My other bridesmaids were out of town so they had their dresses shipped to them and alterations were done elsewhere.

You got your bridal jewelry from Camille’s?
LMA: They helped me pick out all my bridal jewelry and I was really happy with it.

At Camille’s, we’ve seen it all when it comes to brides and their “tribe” shopping for bridesmaid dresses…everything from bridesmaidzillas to last minute panic and indecisiveness. Because we’re seasoned pros, we know when to step in and help steer you in the right direction based on your color palate, budget, and theme. Over the years, there are common mistakes we see brides and/or their bridesmaids make when deciding on gowns for their wedding day. We hope this list of tips help save you time, money and frustration as you prepare for your special day.
Avoid Ordering Bridesmaid Dresses Online
You may or may not have seen the endless horror stories on sites like Huffington Post showing what their gown from China was “supposed to look like” versus what it actually looks like. We see brides and bridesmaids every year that make this mistake and we do our best to find an alternative solution for them.
Things that can happen when you order “knock off” bridesmaid gowns from China
- Incorrect Measurements
- Unpredictable Shipping Time and Conditions
- Unpredictable Fabrics – quality and color may differ from gown to gown
- Low Quality Fabrics
- You Item May Never Arrive – these types of businesses have been known to “disappear” without a trace
Pick Your Wedding Gown First
Before shopping for bridesmaid dresses, it’s important that the bride has already chosen the style of her wedding dress and wedding before shopping for bridesmaid dresses. This ensures that the look of the bridesmaid dresses compliment the bride and theme of the wedding.
Give Yourself Enough Time
For a designer gown, it will take 15 weeks for the order to arrive (within 8 weeks for a rush), and then another 4-6 weeks for alterations, so planning for six months is ideal. Because off-the-rack dresses may sell out quicker, as soon as you find a style you love, don’t waste any time pulling the trigger and making the purchase.
Make an Appointment
By calling the store at (910) 471-4212Â or using our online booking form below, you can make an appointment for your group to make sure there are enough consultants available.
To Match or to Mis-Match
The simplest strategy is to have all your bridesmaids in the exact same style and color from the same designer or have them in the same color and pick the style of their choice.
For mismatched dresses, the two most popular (and easiest) ways to tackle this with your bridal party is to either have each girl wear a different style dress or a different shade of the same color. Try to keep differences in the dresses to no more than two. Choose between color, fabric, or style so that there is still some consistency among the group.
Get Professional Measurements
This is so important! Trying to measure yourself (or each other) can be a disaster. We have professional consultants on site that know how to take your precise measurements to ensure a flattering and comfortable fit.
How Measurements Work…
We will measure bust, waist & hips and order your size based on the size chart for the designer you’re ordering from. The size ordered will be based on your largest of all 3 measurements and then you can get the dress altered in the areas where it does not fit.
Once your bridesmaids are measured and dresses are ordered, they are shipped to our store for pickup or we can ship your gowns anywhere in the US for $15.
