The wait is OVER! We can finally reveal the name of the film production that selected Camille's of Wilmington as the setting for several scenes of the Amazon Prime Video series entitled, The Summer I Turned Pretty. It is the on-screen adaptation of the book series of the same name, penned by renowned author, Jenny Han. The series hit #1 on Prime Video by the end of June! If you are unfamiliar with her work, Jenny Han also wrote the fan favorite, To All the Boys I've Loved Before -- another hit book-series-turned-hit-movie-trilogy on Netflix! Basically, Jenny Han knows how to captivate her audiences in writing and in film, and we are just so honored to play a small part in this exciting endeavor!
Our first filming took place in early August 2021 for Episode 2 and we were amazed at how our boutique was transformed into a character in its own right. If you have ever stepped foot into our boutique, you will see right away how different it looked for the movie -- still very elegant too! SPOILER ALERT: During the first visit, they filmed the scene where the main character(s) shopped for the perfect debutante dress...
The second time Screen Gems visited to film this production was in late September 2021 for Episode 6, but this time they were filming a colorful eveningwear shopping experience. So, we actually transformed our bridal store front into a colorful eveningwear setting, since all of the production equipment needed to take up residence in our eveningwear store front. The best part was that they decided to include our name and logo as part of the story line! HOW COOL IS THAT?!?!! Don't mind me, I'll just be over here fangirling. :) Here's a look at the second visit...
We have to tell you, the cast and Screen Gems crew were top notch all the way, and truly a pleasure to work with each time. They were incredibly respectful of our property, our time and our staff. It was such a thrill to be a part of such a promising book and streaming series from a gifted writer like Jenny Han and a reputable production house like Screen Gems. We consider ourselves the lucky ones just to be included, but take a look at the sweet thank you note and goodies the team sent our way, below...
As they say, I guess that's a wrap! The series can be streamed on Amazon Prime as of late June 2022, so be on the lookout via our Facebook and Instagram for any additional cameos. Fingers crossed for cameos in Season 2... ;)
