Remembering Royal…

We still remember the anticipation while we waited to see what Kate Middleton was going to wear to marry her Prince. Will it have sleeves? Will it have lace? How long will her train be? What crown will she wear? The wait was finally over on the early morning on April 29, 2011. She was breathtaking in her gown designed for her by Sarah Burton, of the fashion house of  Alexander McQueen, which Kate worked closely with to create her gown.

Every detail on her gown may have been inspired from traditions and the lovely royal brides before her.  Her designer slightly padded at her hips of her satin ballgown to resemble a corset, which was taken from the Victorian traditions to show off her small waist. A small blue ribbon was sewn inside her gown for her “something blue”.

Kate’s modern-day ball gown style gown was reminiscent of the 1950’s Queen Elizabeth and Grace Kelly’s bridal gowns. When Princess Diana married Charles in 1981, her designer, Elizabeth Emanuel, created a opulent, whimsy, storybook romance style for her that people, to this day, still talk about. Although Kate didn’t have a train quite as long as Princess Diana, she had a simply modern day bridal gown perfect for a modern-day queen.

Soon there will be a new princess, Meghan Markle, when she marries her prince, Prince Harry, on May 19th, 2018. What will she wear? Will it look like Kate’s, Diana, or even the Queen? There are rumors it will be heavily beaded and have coverage that is royal approved but show off her figure. Will the designer be Ralph and Russo? Designers from London, who have designed for celebrities such as Penelope Cruz and Celine Dion. We will just have to wait and see!
